Sales Tax
Sales tax is the amount of tax owing on the sale price of the purchase; and not the factory cost. The percentage is based on the county the purchaser resides in. Weston County residents are currently at a 5% tax rate. Sales tax is due within 65 days of the purchase date, with interest and penalty beginning on the 66th day. The taxable amount includes vehicle price, document fees, shipping & handling, and any vehicle additions. Warranties, insurance and cash down payments are not included. Any trade in’s, rebates or discounts will be deducted from the taxable amount.
Recreational Vehicles
Wyoming dealers typically include the sales tax in the bill of sale for any purchase of ATVs, boats or motorcycles. Therefore sales tax will not be due at the County Treasurer. If the recreational vehicle is purchased outside of Wyoming, sales tax will be due to the Treasurer.
