Welcome to the Weston County Assessor's Webpage
This site has been prepared by the Weston County Assessor's Office to help property owners better understand the functions of the Assessor's Office and provide information on how property tax is determined, how real property is assessed, what personal property a business should declare, and much more.
Property taxation is a complex and unpopular subject. We in the Weston County Assessor’s Office strive to be as accurate and helpful as possible in providing county taxpayers an understanding of the state statutes, rules and guidelines that dictate our procedures.
The statutory duty of the County Assessor’s Office is to annually locate, identify and value all taxable property in their jurisdiction as mandated by Wyoming Statutes as of January 1st of each year. The Assessor is to value all property uniformly at its full (fair) market value. The Assessor strives to value properties accurately, fairly, and uniformly according to guidelines from Wyoming Statutes and the Wyoming Department of Revenue.
The Assessor does not establish the dollar amount of taxes nor does the Assessor bill or collect taxes to be paid. Billing and collection of taxes is the responsibility of the Weston County Treasurer.
The goal of the Assessor's Office is to assist the taxpayer in an efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly manner. We strive to provide accurate information and will always make the service we provide to the citizens of Weston County our top priority. If you have any questions regarding the value of your property or the valuation process, the Assessor's Office is always ready to assist and serve you.
